About Write Time Publishing

Write Time Publishing was started by Scott Purdy in 1994 with the release of his book, Time Management for Teachers. The company was originally created as a sister company of Hands On, Inc., which Scott founded with seven fellow teachers in 1988; however, over the years, Write Time Publishing has become a widely successful business enterprise based solely on the products contained on this website.

The company is run out of the home of author Scott Purdy, who has self-published three books, designed a widely popular gradebook for teachers, and developed a number of teacher workshops that he conducts in the state of California year-round. His home office is the receptionist desk (his wife, the receptionist), and his garage remains the shipping department. The company has been built and continues to be run using the same time management strategies on which Scott has based his products and workshops.

About Scott Purdy

Scott Purdy's teaching career began in inner-city Los Angeles, where he taught full-time while raising two children. Eventually, Scott and his family moved to a small town in Colorado, where he began teaching full-time and was soon approached with an offer to take over the retiring superintendent's position at the local school district.

For six years, he was superintendent, prinicpal, and teacher in Colorado, when in 1986, an administrative job offer pulled Scott and his family to Solvang, California, where he ran a K-8 school of 700 students as superintendent and principal, as well as taught a few periods of junior high writing and Spanish every day.

In his tenure as administrator, Scott and his dedicated staff successfully passed two bond issues to build new classrooms and a 10,000 square foot gymnasium, had the school recognized as a California Distinguished School, installed two computer labs, and created a myriad of unique educational programs, many of which are still in affect.

Additionally, Scott and seven fellow teachers designed and wrote a seven-book mathematics series for teachers, and successfully marketed it nationwide. In 1995, Scott voluntarily stepped down from administration and became a full-time teacher again, and over the following years wrote the books and created the resources and seminars for teachers that are now on this website.

His teaching career has been filled with challenges and successes, but his accomplishments in and out of the classroom are a tribute to his ability to effectively manage his time. He has become a highly demanded and widely praised speaker among schools in the Western United States, and thousands of teachers nationwide have (re)discovered the joys of teaching thanks to his desire to share what he has learned in his thirty years of teaching.
