Teacher Seminar Frequently Asked Questions
Get answers to the questions we receive most often about Write Time Teacher Workshops
What are the hours and requirements?
Each workshop is one full day (typically from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a break for lunch). There is an optional quarter unit (2/3 semester unit) of post-graduate credit available through University of California Santa Barbara Extension for all workshops (for an additional fee, payable to UC Regents). There is NO PROJECT required for this quarter unit.
How much does it cost?
All workshops are $100.00, payable to either Scott Purdy or Write Time. For those who wish to obtain a quarter unit of post-graduate credit through UCSB Extension, an additional $45.00, payable to UC Regents, is collected on the day of the workshop.
How do I sign up?
Visit our workshop schedule page and click on the "Enroll" button of the seminar you wish to attend. Upon completion of the checkout process, you will receive a confirmation email. As the seminar date approaches, you will receive an additional letter/email with specific details about the class.
Is there a specific order in which classes should be taken?
Generally, no. However, it is best if you take Teaching Students to Write before taking Eight Writing Assignments from Start to Finish.
I noticed some workshops include a book by Scott Purdy. What if I already have the book?
You can either get another copy of it, or we will issue you a credit good towards any of our other products.
How many people are there in each workshop?
Typically, anywhere from 25 to 35 participants are scheduled per workshop, but that number can obviously fluctuate in either direction based the time of year, location, etc.
Where can I find driving directions to the workshop locations?
Yes you can. Please visit our page dedicated to maps and driving directions to our teacher workshop locations.
Are you going to do workshops in my area?
Scott Purdy typically stays within California, as that is where he is based. Occasionally he will do classes in other western states as time and demand permits. If you have a specific request, please feel free to send us an email.
Does Scott Purdy come to school districts for teacher inservices or other events?
Yes he does. Please call or email for further details.
